Explanation
The abbreviation EU stands for European Union, which is a political and economic alliance of European countries. The EU promotes cooperation in various areas, including trade, security, and environmental protection, and allows for the free movement of people, goods, services, and capital among its member states. This integration is a central aspect of European history following World War II, aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region.
