Explanation
The full name of Germany is "Federal Republic of Germany," which emphasizes the federal structure of the country. The term "Federal Republic" refers to the division of Germany into various federal states and the democratic form of government established after World War II. This designation became particularly significant after the reunification in 1990, when the two German states, the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic, were reunited into one country.
